But Tony insisted that he was serious. Ludmila did not know what to say. Eventually, she explained that all this was so unexpected and that she still had to finish her last year at the University. They had a lot of fun together during the next few days.
Lyudmila seemed to be kind and sincere. Like many Russian ladies she was an unusual mix of innocent grace and adult pragmatism and this doubtlessly made her very attractive to Tony. She told me that she liked Tony, but could not decide for the future. "It is incredible. I am almost in love with this girl. I think, that fate sent her mom to me. Nobody will believe this crazy story". They had a lot of fun in the ensuing days but Ludmila told me again and again that events were going too quickly. And, I told Tony, "Do not rush too fast with this girl, she has several months remaining before she finishes school."

But Tony persisted and today he and Lyudmila are now married and living in his small rural town in the South USA. I now keep my unsolicited advice to myself. While prior Russianladies correspondence does not contribute to success on a trip, it doesn't hurt to announce your arrival, especially to Russia ladies who live outside your destination city. In other words, a good plan would be to send one e-letter to each lady inviting them to meet you in your destination city. Give them your hotel telephone number and dates of arrival and departure. This is like taking food to a feast but if it gives you confidence to get on that plane, then go for it.
