She said Mike had actually traveled to Moscow alone to meet another lady, but it didn't work out and so he decided to go to the Russian ladies socials only at the last moment. "Can you imagine", she added. " What happened to us would have never happened if he hadn't come…" Her face became sad for a moment. But then Mike came to us and they smiled to each other. "Let's go for a walk, I need to talk to you and Svetlana, can you interpret for us?", he asked. So we left the hotel, walked to a nice quiet park nearby. I was slightly embarrassed when Mike confessed his love for Marina. "For many years I have been looking for a woman as feminine, and beautiful as she, who also values family orientation and home life which I so treasure. I did not find anyone in my country who was that traditional, caring and that sincerely interested in having a happy, quiet family life."

Later that week I asked the Russian ladies socials representative how things went between Mike and Marina. She said that Mike was already preparing for a fiancee visa for Marina and making arrangements for her visit to America. It wasn't a surprise for me - because I know that Russians have that mystical soul and especially Russian ladies. So, for Marina, love at first sight was her destiny. And for me, I am still waiting. :-).
NOTE: While love at first sight is not the way things usually work out, opportunity at first sight is an absolute reality. Usually there is only ONE sight at opportunity and that an opportunity must not be lost because it might be your destiny. At the socials many Russian ladies arrive throughout the day and you must be alert. Most of them are patient and will sit all day waiting for a hello, but not always. The socials are a river of opportunities but the clock ticks away inexorably. And, there is nothing more lonely than an empty reception hall after the last Russian lady has departed.
