Steve decided to go to the Russian ladies socials again. "She has such a bright personality and I am sure she likes you, Steve. You will be stupid if you send her away. She told me that she would not try to make the acquaintance of anyone else at the socials." From the very beginning Steve met a lot of Russian ladies that day, and invited Jana, a very sexy brunet in a short gown to dinner. Again and again he compared Jana to Julia, and again and again he could only picture himself with Julia and not Jana. Julia confided later that she had been prepared for anything, even leaving Moscow the next day, but in the end decided to rely on destiny. Steve and Julia spent the next week together. They took city bus tours and her English improved with each hour. "I have never met such an affectionate and caring woman in my life," Steve said by phone the day before leaving Moscow. This Russian ladies story demonstrates that it is important to look beyond the initial superficial appearance of Russian ladies. Steve later had the opportunity to see Julia dressed as he had imagined her in the photos and she was everything he had imagined. It is probable that if Steve had based his final choice on initial appearance, he would find himself alone now. Love at second sight is sometimes far more reliable than love at first sight.
